1867 Sketches of Moundbuilders by George Gale; Excerpts from book + 19th Century Photos + Meteorite

Howdy ya’ll. Welcome back. Today we will read some very interesting excerpts from the 1867 Book “Upper Mississippi; Or Historical Sketches of the Moundbuilders…” written by George Gale.

I will also showcase some interesting images, artistic depictions, and modern day photographs of some of these ancient mounds. We will go into detail on some of the geometric and mathematical properties, as well as some rather unique views of mounds I have never seen before. We will also discuss a mysterious Meteorite which may have contributed to the overall unknown nature of the area of the “Serpent Mound” in Ohio. We will finally discuss the legends attributed to the mound builders; those which come from a variety of Indigenous groups.

Overall, a great video if you enjoy history from the mid 1800’s and the discussion of ancient earthworks. Enjoy!
